Back to the Basics

It's been quite a while since I've written anything on my blog... I almost feel like a stranger. I've missed it. I think the last time I posted was about November of 2011. I think it's finally time to get back to it. :)

I decided to take a break from blogging when I found out that my 12-year-old son had a tumor in his hip bone and needed surgery. A very complicated surgery for a boy his age. It was benign and he is doing very well now. He still has a way to go... but I will always be thankful to God for his healing! He is so good!

I contemplated writing during that time to share our experiences along the way. After much prayer, I realized that I needed to devote all of my time to my son and his recovery. A wise choice. Although, I do plan to share in the future what the Lord has done... and how He brought us through such a stressful time in our lives.

I've missed reading and reviewing books and I may still do that on occasion... but it will not be my first priority. I homeschool now and still have regular doctor visits out of town every 6-8 weeks for my son, so my time is very limited. I apologize to the publishers that I let down during that time. You were all so very understanding and I appreciate that very much. It was hard for me not to keep my word, and even though you were very supportive... I still felt terrible. I had a great time reviewing.

I really want to get back to the basics of what I wanted my blog to be about in the first place. Helping other people like me who just need a tip, encouragement, a suggestion, or simply the knowledge that they are not alone in their struggles. Just a simple Mom With a Blog (and now a Grandmother, too!) willing to be used by God.

I have no expectations of what my efforts will bring. I guess I'll just take it one day at a time and see where God leads me. He's taught me so much these past few months... I look forward to what He has ahead for me.
